Anshumaan Pushkar, known for his stellar performances in Jamtara, Grahan, and 12th Fail, has truly impressed audiences with his acting versatility. Now, he’s all set to take on a new challenge in the hilarious heist comedy Moonwalk, where he plays the quirky yet ambitious Tarik Pandey. Set to premiere on JioCinema Premium on December 20th, the show, directed by Ajay Bhuyan and produced by Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios) and Ajay G Rai (Jar Pictures), follows the rivalry between two thieves-Tarik Pandey from Rampur and Maddy Kapoor from Delhi-competing for a priceless moonrock and the affections of their mutual crush, Chandni Lakhani. In a recent chat, Pushkar shared insights into his preparation for the role, revealing how he embraced the comic timing and dynamic energy of his character to bring Tarik to life.
Sharing about what makes Tarik Pandey stand out, Anshumaan said, “Tarik has a unique presence and intelligence that makes him the smartest thief in the story. His aura and mindset set him apart, making him unforgettable.”
Talking about his admiration for Michael Jackson and its influence on his role, he added, “I’ve been a lifelong fan of Michael Jackson, especially his iconic moonwalk. While I’ve practiced it countless times before, this role pushed me to refine it further. I dedicated myself to mastering the move, ensuring it was as smooth and flawless as possible. With this, I aimed to pay tribute to both Jackson’s legacy and my character.” Adding about its relevance in the show, he shared, “It’s the victory dance of Tarik. He performs it after all his successful heists. Tarik considers himself an artist and not a thief. So, he respects the art of dance as well and is regarded as one of the best dancers and moonwalkers of Rampur.”
With laughter, drama, and high-stakes theft at its core, Moonwalk promises to be yet another hit for Pushkar, showcasing his growing range as an actor.
